Progress Update, Week 18 - Barnsley Hospital

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of our project newsletter.

The site team continue to work within our procedures and policies in place to comply with the COVID-19 industry guidelines. Including the appropriate social distancing measures for everyone on site, hopefully we can see some relaxation of these restrictions in the coming weeks.

The groundworks team have completed all the foundations and have progressed with the underground drainage, as far as possible whilst completing the deep drainage connection into Phase 1.
The steelwork arrived as planned on 15th June 2020 and is nearing completion, we hope to gain 1 to 2 days on the programme for this activity. Our quality checking and sign-off for line and level is happening right now, its very important this is right with everything else based from the steelwork.

Both the mechanical and electrical contractors continue with their works in the basement installing the new services, containment and pipework work to serve the new building with heating, hot and cold water.

The next two weeks will see the structural roof deck starting and completing, the site team will be weather watching to coordinate their preferred day to pour concrete onto the permanent metal deck, hopefully the sun will shine on the righteous that day!
On completion of the roof deck it will see our groundworks team return to complete the internal drainage and begin preparations for the ground floor slab and perimeter beams that support the external walls
We’ll also continue in the existing basement level and hopefully make a start with the enabling works within the existing emergency department to facilitate the new electrical switch room
