Hello and welcome to another edition of our project newsletter.

Barnsley Hospital is investing £3.5m into this dedicated, co-located Children’s Emergency Department and brand new purpose built Children’s Assessment Unit. Co-locating these two units will provide an improved experience for children and families, and will enable the hospital to increase their capacity to treat adults in the current Emergency Department. The project is planned over three phases and is due to complete in spring 2021

Over the last few weeks progress on site has moved on at pace, with all the new aluminum windows installed and glazed just in time as the weather turns. The fixers from Dawber-Williamson have continued to make great progress with the stud partition walls and are now starting to close these in after all the service provisions are installed. Sheffield Electrical are well on the way with their first fix works, Complete Pipework Services have commenced on the new mechanical services within the ceiling voids. Malden roofing have had perfect weather so far working on the roof and have been able to push on with applying the insulation and the final roof membrane.

Over the next two weeks

Over the coming weeks labour resources on site will increase further with the M&E works starting at roof level and the plant room

The roof finishes will be completed and plastering will start internally.

Sheffield Electrical will install the new electric mains from one end of the hospital to the other over five nights to minimise any disruption
