Hello and welcome to another edition of our project newsletter.
Barnsley Hospital is investing £3.5m into this dedicated, co-located Children’s Emergency Department and brand new purpose built Children’s Assessment Unit. Co-locating these two units will provide an improved experience for children and families, and will enable the hospital to increase their capacity to treat adults in the current Emergency Department. The project is planned over three phases and is due to complete in spring 2021
Since our last update, our site team have been working very hard and I would like to say a big well done to everyone involved. They have shown great teamwork and we can now see the new Child Assessment Unit really starting to take shape.
Over the last few weeks the dry-liners from Dawber Williamson have made great progress with the stud partition works, we can now see the internal layout of the building. We have removed all the asbestos from the original front elevation of the hospital which is always a difficult task but the subcontractors have made good progress and in a safe manner. Sheffield Electrical have started their 1st fix works inside the building. On the roof, the new plant room has been constructed and the plant screening around has commenced at roof level. This is a great architectural feature of the building.
Over the next two weeks
Over the coming weeks labour resources on site will start to increase again with the M&E works starting to really push on.
The first stage of the stud partition works will be completed as well as the plant screening on the roof. Work inside existing ED is set to start next week enabling us to strip out the old windows from our side of the building.
The feature cladding works to the outside of the building will begin soon, along with the final roof finishes
