Hello and welcome to the second edition of our project newsletter.
The first two weeks back on site saw all our opertives adhering to all the correct procedures and policies in place to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines. These include safe working practices and appropriate social distancing measures for everyone on site and with this in place we are able to get work productivley moving forward on the project.
The groundworks team from Brewster are well underway with the foundations for the new building, and have now started work on the underground drainage. They have also completed the demoliton works on the exsiting Emergency Department (ED) to make way for the new building.
The site team have also completed a small section of enabling works to reconfigure the existing ED Reception to accommodate the eventual link into the new Children’s Assessment Unit whilst finishing this a week ahead of their programme.
Both the mechanical and electrical contractors, Sheffield Electrical Co. and Complete Pipework Services have started work in the basement intstalling the new services, containment and pipework work to serve the new building, such as heating, hot and cold water. They’re doing a great job and are making fantasic progress in the complex and very hot environment!
We must mention and say a special thanks to our design team at Day Architectural and Mott MacDonald in completing their designs to construction issue and a position where we’re now beginning to move onto the information for the final finishes.
Over the next two weeks
Over the next 2 weeks, will see all the foundation works completed ready for the main structural steelwork frame commencing on 15th June 2020. This is always a milestone for any project to see the structure rising from its foundations!
Also, we will continue moving forward to complete all the new drainage, upgrading the existing whilst working in the existing basement level, moving on with the new mechanical and electrical services extending and upgrading these to serve the new facility.
